Re: London stadium
Spurs never wanted it. They used it as leverage so that Haringey council would give them planning permission to rebuild WHL.

Re: London stadium
Tottenham only partially built on their original footprint but they turned it around by ninety degrees and expanded beyond that, that's why some businesses were crying about it

Re: London stadium
It was between us and Tottenham and we won because our bid involved NOT knocking the stadium down (and I'm sure that being from East London rather than North helped).

They'd have built their stadium there cheaper because half of the work would already have been done plus they'd have sold the WHL land - all-in-all making it much cheaper for them than doing what they've done.

Re: London stadium
Willtell,

Chances are Spurs would be playing there in a purpose built football stadium.
Their bid was to knock the stadium down and rebuild it, so it would have been pretty similar to what they have now, but in Stratford.

There were no other viable solutions for the stadium.

Re: London stadium
I wonder what would have happened to this stadium if WHU hadn't become the tenant?

Would Tottenham or Leyton Orient taken it on?

Would it have been closed up and eventually pulled down for housing?

How much would the total cost have been to build it and pull it down again?

If Seb Coe had made this kind of massive loss for a business employer would they have made him a baron or fired him?

The contract caps whatever WHU can make from the LLDC earned naming rights at £2.5m per year.

Which at the time incidentally was LESS than Stoke were making for their stadium naming rights.

Another big money LIE by the OSers put to bed.

But yeah no one is paying millions and millions for stadium naming rights unless they already have something to do with the……..welcome the Dodgy Premium Rate Phone Number Arena.

Re: London stadium
We’d be better off building our own stadium that’s fit for football and move out. The only benefit of moving there in the first place was to stop Spurs moving to East London and having the stadium

---

Of course we would.
If we had a plot of land and a spare £700m to build a stadium. Not to mention we'd probably have to buy ourselves out of the current lease. Sadly, it's not an option any more.

Re: London stadium
Wasn't the original deal that, if they found a stadium sponsor they would keep the first 4m anyway? But we would then split the remaining profit 50/50?

So now they are saying, go and find a stadium sponsor for us, and give us and we'll let you keep all the profit over 4m?

Agree we should tell them to fuck off. Whatever deal we manage to get is 99% down to West Ham United being anchor tenant. Absolutely no-one is going to be sponsoring that stadium because of the non-footballing events that are being put on.

Give them 1m a year and keep the rest. And that is being generous.

Re: London stadium
Anfield, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium .... 4 of the Super League Cunts dont seem to have found someone willing to pay to put their names on their stadia

Etihad & Emirates for Man C & Arsenal & then a few smaller clubs ... Amex at Brighton, Aviva (?) at Bournemouth etc

LLDC are obviously a bunch of no marks so no surprise that they have got nowhere and have given up.
If we have someone in the background willing to pay a reasonable amount I'd do it .... after beating this £4m down to a more realistic £1m maybe.
The long game has to be pressure on the government to stop the bleeding they are incurring and for them to GIVE us the stadium. For a payment of the traditional PEPPERCORN.
They should think themselves lucky we dont demand tens of millions to take it off their hands.

This is just reminding everyone of how fucking useless public bodies are at running things and how they inevitably lose piles of money.
